The following is a description of the terminology and text formats used throughout the manual.
SchoolPRO Terminology
Forms
A form refers to any menu or options screen shown in SchoolPRO. A form can consist of buttons, tabs, lists, checkboxes, option selectors etc.
Tabs
Tabs are used to switch between different menu options within a form. Tabs are used extensively on SchoolPRO forms to provide clear and easy access to functions used by SchoolPRO.
This figure shows a tab that is commonly found in the Reports menu of SchoolPRO modules. There are two tabs, the Entities tab and the Address tab.
Checkboxes
Checkboxes are used in SchoolPRO to record information that can only have 2 possible states. For example, a flag only has 2 states - set or unset. If the checkbox is ticked, then the flag is set. If it is empty, then the flag is not set.
Occasionally there are places where a checkbox can be ticked, empty or grey. A grey checkbox is used to indicate that the value does not matter. For example, it may be possible to produce a form letter which uses the flag option as a filter. To produce form letters for all the entities that have a flag set, the box would be ticked. To produce form letters for all the entities where the flag is not set, the box would be empty. However, to produce form letters regardless of whether the flag is set or unset, the box would be grey.
This figure shows a situation where a filter is used to select only the records that are flagged and all the records regardless of whether or not they are tagged.
Confirmation Dialogue Box
A confirmation box is displayed when you are performing an action that will affect the data in SchoolPRO. A confirmation box usually asks if you are sure you wish to continue with the operation you have select and gives you the choice of a Yes or No button.
Confirmation dialogues boxes are displayed whenever a delete button is used.
Calendar Control Button
A calendar control button is often found in places where a date is required. It provides a simple way of selecting a date from a small calender instead of typing a date in manually.
