Version 6 is here!! (well almost...)

All the pieces are coming together for the release of SchoolPRO 2 early next year.  One of the steps on this path has been the development and now release of version 6 of SchoolPRO (this is likely to be the last major release of our existing platform).  Version 6 has some great new features in it including backend readiness for SQL.   One great new feature is the way we have simplified the addresses  but also added some new functionality to them.  For example it is now possible to link to other addresses.  So if you link to a doctor's address and you change his/her business phone number, all students who have that doctor will automatically be updated.

The most exciting new feature of version 6 is the all new Report Card Generator.  This allows a student's report to be generated in seconds read more about this below.

New Chart of Accounts & Board Reporting

Paul Svensen has produced a new QuickBooks database, using the latest DEEWR chart of accounts. The model includes a number of new features, such as a column in the account listing that contains advice on what should be included in (or excluded from) a particular general ledger account. It also makes it easy to produce your annual accounts in the latest statutory format, such as including capital grant income “between the lines” – that is, below the net operating income line, but included in “comprehensive net income”.

The QuickBooks database is also linked to a new “Budgeting/Forecasting/Reporting” Excel model. It, too, contains some new features, such as a one page “The Big Picture” report, designed specifically for “financially challenged” board members!

If you would like a copy of these files, please just send an email to Paul Svensen

We hope you find this newsletter useful.  If you don't then simply unsubscribe.  If you have any questions or would like any assistance with SchoolPRO, please don't hesitate to contact us.  Remember, email support is still free.  Or you can call us on any of our state based office numbers.

Need a New Report?

From time to time we add new MS Word report templates to our web site.

MS Word report templates are a great way to get customised reports that you can even create yourself (for those SQL heads out there).  Even for the uninitiated you can fiddle with the templates fonts, colours etc.  Check out our manuals for help on this

SchoolPRO's new Report Card Generator

SchoolPRO's new Report Card Report Generator has moved away from the use of Word to generate Academic reports.  Although it requires the setup of new templates and the installation of version 6 the generation of reports has been significantly sped up.  Now each student's report only takes a few second to create and export as a PDF.

For all you techies out there the new Report Card Generator is written in .Net and so installs like any other .Net application.  Not only is it easy to install but it is also very easy to use to generate reports.  Basically you select an Academic year, then the Report Type and finally the year level; giving you a neat list of students down the left hand side of your screen.  The final step is click on a student and a few seconds later the generated report appears (of course this can be done for a whole year level or entire school if you want - no difference there)
